Amazon Meltable Policy Reminder: Compliance Deadline Approaching
As April 15th approaches in just one month, it's crucial to be aware that Amazon's Meltable Policy will soon take effect.
What Is Amazon's Meltable Policy?
Introduced in 2016, this policy prohibits meltable products from being stored in FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) warehouses or shipped via FBA delivery services to maintain product quality and meet Amazon’s strict storage standards.
“Meltable” refers to heat-sensitive consumable products that may degrade or melt when exposed to temperatures above 155°F (68°C). This includes, but is not limited to, chocolate, gummies, and certain jelly- or wax-based products.
How to Navigate the Policy Without Breaking the Bank
To maintain sales momentum while complying with the policy, sellers can take the following strategic steps:
-
Clear Your FBA Inventory in Advance Remove meltable products from FBA listings and arrange for third-party logistics (3PL) storage or warehouse them yourself. Once the restriction period ends, restock them in FBA.
-
-
Running Strategic Promotions Use bundle offers, discounts, coupons, and full-price reductions to accelerate sales and reduce inventory levels before the policy takes effect.
-
-
Switch to FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) If your sales volume remains steady, transitioning to third-party fulfillment or dropshipping can be a viable alternative during the restricted period.
-
Request an Exemption If you believe your ASIN has been incorrectly categorized as meltable, you can submit documentation to Amazon Selling Partner Support for review and potential exemption.
